Sawyer's trip to Mesa View Hospital

So after Dad and donuts on Thursday Sawyer comes home tell me her tummy hurts. It had been hurting on and off since the night before so I was not to worried. The stomach flu has been going around and Mike was home sick with it, so no worries right? Wrong!!!!! She ate a little lunch and seemed better. She went to school at 12:05 p.m. just like any other day. Well at 3:00 p.m. I get a call from the school that she is way to sick to ride the bus home and that I needed to come and get her. When I got there she was running a fever and crying that her right side hurt really bad. We went to Dr. Gorman's office first to see if they could work us in and they were able to. (In case anyone wants to know I think he is an AWESOME doctor and I am very excited to have him here in the valley.) I am so grateful that they worked Sawyer in so quickly without an appt. Dr. Gorman checked her out and said he was pretty sure it was appendicitis. She had us to go Mesa View hospital in Mesquite. We picked up Mike on the way and headed north to Mesquite. When we got there they already knew we were coming and were ready. Thanks to Dr. Gorman! Anyways, they started her IV and did some blood work. It came back normal so we had to do a CT scan. All her symptoms were appendix but they needed confirmation that it was her appendix. She did great in the CT Scan and even drank the contrast drink without any problems. The CT scan confirmed that she had appendicitis so off to surgery my little baby went. Mike gave her a blessing before she went into surgery which calmed me down more then anyone. I was such a special moment to watch him give her this blessing and to have his love and support during this whole thing. Dr. Zinni was her surgeon and Dr. Mike put her to sleep. Everyone at the hospital was great. She came out the surgery fine and we then headed up to the 2nd floor to room 230. After we got all settled in Mike went home to sleep and I stayed with her. It was a long night for her. She was very sore. We left the hospital about 2:30 p.m. and headed home. My parents game down from Roy, UT to make sure she was ok. They stayed with us until Sunday morning and then headed home. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Butterfield for coming down. While Sawyer was in the hospital my Good friend Gerilyn brought her a goody bag. Her favorite thing in there was her new Hannah Montana pj. She loves them. Thanks so much Gerilyn for all your help during this crazy time. Sawyer had a visit from her friend McKinley who brought her a goody bag as well. We love everyone who has helped us during this time. We are lucky to have the family and friends we done. We are so blessed.

P.S.
Thanks to the Brock and Gregory families for the present also!

Dad and Donuts at Bowler Elementary

On Thursday Sawyer's elementary school had a special day where the Dads go to school with the kids in the morning and have breakfast. They call it Dad and Donuts. Mike was home sick with the stomach flu and he was a trooper and tough it out long enough to take her.(What a Grrrreat dadddy!) Our good friend Joseph didn't have anyone to go with him so Sawyer and Mike invited him to go with them. One of the things I love about my husband is his "BIG" heart. This totally made little Joseph's day. They all had a great time and Sawyer was able to spend some time with her Daddy before she had to go to school in the afternoon. Here's some pictures of Sawyer and Joseph with Mike. Sawyer totally enjoyed herself and loved spending sometime with Daddy without Mom. I sure do love these two people.

Two choices

John is the kind of guy you love to hate. He is always in a good mood and always has something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, 'If I were any better, I would be twins!'

He was a natural motivator.

If an employee was having a bad day, John was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.

Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up and asked him, 'I don't get it!

You can't be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?'

He replied, 'Each morning I wake up and say to myself, you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or ... you can choose to be in a bad mood

I choose to be in a good mood.'

Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or...I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it.

Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or... I can point out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life.

'Yeah, right, it's not that easy,' I protested.

'Yes, it is,' he said. 'Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people affect your mood.

You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It's your choice how you live your life.'

I reflected on what he said. Soon hereafter, I left the Tower Industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it.

Several years later, I heard that he was involved in a serious accident, falling some 60 feet from a
communications tower.

After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, he was released from the hospital with rods placed in his back.

I saw him about six months after the accident.

When I asked him how he was, he replied, 'If I were any better, I'd be twins...Wanna see my scars?'

I declined to see his wounds, but I did ask him what had gone through his mind as the accident took place.

'The first thing that went through my mind was the well-being of my soon-to-be born daughter,' he replied. 'Then, as I lay on the ground, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live or...I could choose to die. I chose to live.'

'Weren't you scared? Did you lose consciousness?' I asked

He continued, '..the paramedics were great.

They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the ER and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read 'he's a dead man'. I knew I needed to take action..'

'What did you do?' I asked.

'Well, there was a big burly nurse shouting questions at me,' said John. 'She asked if I was allergic to anything 'Yes, I replied.' The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, 'GRAVITY'!'

Over their laughter, I told them, 'I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead.'

He lived, thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude... I learned from him that every day we have the choice to live fully.

Attitude, after all, is everything.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

After all today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.

Friendship

My friend Christina from high school sent me this in an email. I thought it was funny and so true. I am still laughing about the last one. Thanks Christina

None of that Sissy Crap

Are you tired of those sissy 'friendship' poems that always sound good,

but never actually come close to reality?

Well, here is a series of promises that actually speak of true friendship.

You will see no cutesy little smiley faces on this card-

Just the stone cold truth of our great friendship.

1. When you are sad --I will jump on the person who made you sad like a spider monkey jacked up on Mountain Dew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. When you are blue -- I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.

3. When you smile -- I will know you are plotting something that I must be involved in.

4. When you're scared -- we will high tail it out of here.

5. When you are worried -- I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be until you quit whining, ya big baby!!!!

6. When you are confused -- I will use little words.

7. When you are sick --Stay away from me until you are well again.. I don't want whatever you have.

8. When you fall -- I'll pick you up and dust you off..

9. This is my oath....I pledge it to the end. 'Why?' you may ask -- because you are my FRIEND!

Friendship is like peeing your pants,

everyone can see it,

but only you can feel the true warmth.

Twilight Party

Ok.....it's me again! The party planner. The Twilight movie is coming out in like 14 days. We need to get a game plan as to where we are going to eat dinner and what theater we are going to see the movie. If you want to go send me a memo and lets get this planned. I am so excited!!!! The more the merry. Let me know if you want Las Vegas or Mesquite.

Funny things the kids do and say

Sawyer is always saying the funnest things or doing things that make me laugh until I cry. I want to be able to remember these things as she gets older. I have made a promise to myself that I am going to keep better record of all the funny and cute things all the kids do. I am sure there will be more post of Sawyer when we do not have the boys, but I want to be able and look back at all the cute and sweet things our 4 blessings have done. So I am going to start with a few things from the past month.

While we were visiting Mike's parents in Elko Sawyer and I have lots of fun spending the day with grandma Kris. It was a very cold day and we decided that we need some hot choco to warm us up. We went to Star Bucks. We ordered 3 hot chocos. Kris and I thought that ours were so good. Sawyer DID NOT! She stated that her's tasted like dirt and mushrooms. I told her to drink her hot choco that she wanted so bad. I was a little bugged that she did not like it after she begged for it. So after we get home I was still cold and though I would heat up her hot choco she did not drink. It was some kind of COFFEE drink. That is right.......I made my child drink coffee. I swear I had not idea. It was so gross. I felt horrible. The lesson I learned from this is that I need to really listen to my kids and not just assume without knowing.

A new thing she has started whle I was reading Twilight was being attracted to things. She keep telling Mike I was so attracted to the books. Now her and Mike are attracted to the new camera.

There will be more to come about each kid. I have to sit down and ask Mike about things from the summer. I am truely blessed to be a mother and have this wonderful little family. I love them all so much. I miss our boy more then words can express. We are so excited for Thanksgiving. We get them for 5 days!!!! YEAH!!!!

New Hair DO

So about 6 weeks ago I had the worst hair cut ever!!! I went to a lady in Las Vegas and she made a HUGE mess of my hair. I cried and had a melt down and about gave my poor husband a nervous break down over it. Anyways, last week I went to Rose at Sheers and she fixed it. Thank you Rose, you are a miracle worker. I was planning on growing it out but now everyone tells me how cute it looks. I have never gotten so many compliments on my hair before. So everyone give me your opinion.....Keep it short or grow it back in to an A-line. This is a super easy hair cut and I am starting to like it. Mike will never give me his opinion again after the melt down. ( I really scared him )So give me some feed back.

Ashton's blessing and a hunting trip for Mike

On Friday morning, Sawyer, Mike, and I headed to Ut for baby Ashton's blessing. Ashton is my younger sister Kathy's new baby. We arrived about 6:30 p.m. and got Sawyer already to go trick or treat en with her cousins Connor and Mitchell. We walked Kathy's neighborhood and the kids got tons of candy. We then went to Dawn's house to sleep. The next morning my darling husband headed out to go pheasant hunting with Dawn's husband Mike. ( Dawn is my cousin and very good friend) They left at 7:00 a.m. and made it home at 6:00 p.m. Mike had a good time and was able to walk over 5 miles and keep up with everyone. His legs are getting better all the time. We had a great time spending time with family and going to dinner at the Texas Road House. YUMMY! Sunday was a great day. Andrew gave Ashton a very beautiful blessing. I am so lucky to have been born into a very loving family. We headed home early because the weather was bad. Good thing it took us about 2 extra hours to get home cause of the heavy rains. I only have two pictures that turned out from this weekend. Good thing Mike bought me a new Nikon D-90. I am so excited. Now I will have awesome pictures for the blog. YEAH!!!!!

P.M. Kindergarten Parade and Halloween Party

Waiting for the parade to start

Last Thursday Sawyer's kindergarten had their Halloween Party. All the little ones dressed up and got to make spider hats, mudd pie cups, eat pizza, and do a little crazy dancing during the cake walk. Before the party they joined in the Bowler Elem. Halloween Costume Parade. Lot's of fun for everyone. Thanks to all the moms who made the party lots of fun. And a BIG THANKS to Mrs. C for being the GREATEST kindergarten teacher ever. Sawyer was a witchy princesses. She was suppose to be a witch. We had to make last minute improvements to the costume. Our good friend Gerilyn let her borrow her homecoming crown for the costume. Sawyer made sure everyone knew that she was wearing a homecoming crown
